Martin Dack is one of the most accomplished pianists in the North of England; as an accompanist for choirs, vocal soloists and as a member of a theatre band or orchestra. Myself speaking as a musical director, martin is excellent to work with, because of his sensitive ability of understanding what a conductor requires. Besides being a dedicated musician, he is also a joy to watch, he has so much passion and expression in his music. His sight reading is brilliant and can change into any style of rhythm required by each composer. He can play without music scores and improvise with great flair. Accompanying both professional and amateur soloists, his playing is so alive, he makes singers perform even better. His understanding of the human voice is such because he is a good baritone singer himself.

I was soon to discover that Martin has a distinctive feel for the mood and tempo of a piece, be it large scale opera , choral or salon music, Gershwin or Elton John... the list is endless, because he is equally at home in any style or period. Martin is a magical musician! Unobtrusive, yet sophisticated and fun! Even our wedding video was enhanced by the background music. Martin played a 4 hour medley of our favourite music, from grand opera to jazz, and made a lovely wedding into a wonderful day!
